Dear Sarah
I write in complaint that my wife, son and I were all registered and accepted as \"being on the list\" however it appears that
the \"lecture\" was over subscribed and we amongst many others were not allowed to attend.
Having woken up at 5AM in order to travel to Oxford from our home in Mansfield,Nottinghamshire and paying over £20 to park
you can not imagine our disappointment, frustration and anger at being turned away. As I have stated above we were amongst
many that were turned away because the \"theatre\" was full, but even after we were turned away others were allowed into the
theatre. The simple difference between \"them\" and \"us\" was that whilst the \"us\" were amongst the peaceful protesters against
Mr Abhisit being allowed deliver a speech on Democracy, the \"them\" appeared to be followers of Mr Abhisit and \"government
officials\" neglecting their duties in Thailand.
I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter and would like to know why we were turned away after being accepted by yourself#
as being on the list. I find it hard to believe that Oxford Unive rcity could get a simple thing like adding up the accepted attendees
wrong, so I can only assume that there were other reasons behind this refusal of entry.
Sincerely
……….

Dear ………,
Sarah Travis has passed your email below on to me at St. John\'s to reply. I am sure you are aware this was not a St. John\'s event, we just supplied the venue, so I can only answer from what I have been told took place on the day.
I am very sorry you and your wife were turned away on Saturday from Mr. Abhisit\'s lecture and understand your disappointment. I have been told that the Auditorium filled up very quickly with people who had signed up with the Centre for International Studies and also on the internet. Unfortunately there was no overflow facility and a decision had to be made that a cut-off point had been reached and people must be turned away. I am not aware of some people getting in whilst others were turned away. This was definitely not the intention of the security people who were trying to deal with everyone fairly.

Best regards,

Dear Mrs. Travis,

As a confirmed, registered participant, I would like to let you know that a number of confirmed, registered participants and myself, are very disappointed and would like to request your personal explanation on why we were rejected from entering into the auditorium without prior notice to attend the lecture given by Thai Prime Minister, Abhitsit Vejjajiva, on Saturday, 14 March, 2009.

We feel that we were discriminated against despite the fact that we have fully complied with all of your conditions – having registered and being confirmed via e-mail by you, refraining from bringing large bags, as well as bringing along with us our personal photo I.D.s.

Please note that many of the confirmed, registered participants traveled long distances, at their own expense, and took time off of work to attend this very public event. Being rejected from attending this event without prior notice has made many confirmed, registered participants feel that we were unjustly treated.

The courtesy of a written explanation will be appreciated.

Sincerely,

Watana Ebbage
